Red Hot Easter – Gartside Paul Simon and Andy Collins Whymark

Simon, Andy and I had all the fishing over the last few years together and had our part of the 20 blank spaces for our first trip to France we wanted to find a big fish runs if the lake and blogs thought it was the lake that we had to visit.

After 12 hours of travel we arrived at the house owners Ian gave us a warm welcome and a tour of the lake. Ian has a personal interest the guests and is keen to offer advice. I will say now that you would do well to heed, as advice that baited a small bed in a known place and 3 hours after setting up my bivouac I had my first 30 and a new PB.

I had set up camp at the 'Tin Hut' swim at the other end the lake with my two friends at the other end of the dual-platform swim (swim Tim)

Sunday and Monday proved to be halcyon days for me with just a couple of runs resulting in a 30 and 27a, Andy Simons and rods every couple of hours screaming at the other end of the lake, so I took the time to spod out a large bed of bait the right of swimming in case I had to go to the lake if things get hot. On Tuesday night there was a new PB of 34 pounds back to the position Ian had reported for the first time, my new bed with the right bait had also produced its first twenty in the morning, but then nothing all day, that night I decided to spend a couple of nothing more about Andy and Simon as his action had not diminished and are now about 100 pounds of fish each one in front of me.

I moved to the point 'Reggie' swimming, which is the center of the sea, this means it could still be put to bed with bait I had left on Monday and the cast for the right to share the edge of a large bed that had been producing and Simon. In this way the three of us had a more or less continuous strip fattened covering half the length of the lake.

Wednesday was pretty quiet during the day with three fish from the beginning and none of the area after bait The 11, while Andy Simon and Simon was doing well with the landing of a magnifying mirror of 45 lbs 15 oz beating newly acquired Andy PB 37 pounds.

At 19:15 I started to get a slow beep beep of my left hand bar on the square Monday bait, picked up the rod and the fish … strange! I connected a branch from a tree … branch and then began to move slowly up the rod tip and the wound to the rod pump for the first time at the time the fish was removed bending the tip and all the right line to take off the coil. At this point I figured I was in one of the lakes big cats. I have great sea fish before he felt like they never in long-haul 18 pounds and a size 6 hook and kited like a cat across the lake and yelled at Simon Andy's hand to get my other bars in. Because to address the light that would not be able to intimidate this fish, which was to come only when tired. The clutch is very light set that allows the cat to take line but working for him in the process, the pumping of the rod would not work without pressing the clutch, so I decided to 'walk' the fish back and then walk forward and the wind. This worked and soon was winning the line after 20 minutes had the fish place a short way out of swimming, wow, that was 6 feet long. After a lively couple more sprints out the cat was beaten and we managed to get him away. The struggle had lasted more of 30 minutes and both fishermen and fish were exhausted. The cat weighed 87 pounds and was without doubt the highlight of my week. We have the cat back in the sling and lowered it again water. This was my first cat and I wanted to make sure he returned safely, I decided to take off and put into the lake to support it. In the end, had a good 10 minutes before the cat was ready to shutdown and then a solid hit to my legs swimming.

Cocky, slimy, cold and tired, I showered in the caravan, a beer and decided not to put on my bar for the night and get some kip place.

Simon and Andy had a busy night by all accounts, but I was out of action for the world dreams of big cats.

The next morning I solved the mess the night before changing everything from leadcore down on the cat rod if it had been weakened, as well as the link hook seemed that someone had been at it with sandpaper. Re-spodded all the beds and consolidated. Ian was presented at 9 am and within two hours he had two more 20 and 30 to the bed that was the cat, my arms were still sore from the night before and was good for Ian to the net to fish and photographer to play.

On my left was 19:45 rod was slow beep beep beep as it had done just 24 hours before I got up in the fish kited and immediately right into gear with a lot of torque, I was in another of the big cats. After a very similar but shorter fight in just 20 minutes and again with the help of Simon and Andy had a cat 72 pounds, fantastic I thought, this means that last night was not a lucky not to get a break, which really is times like these that give you confidence in their rigs and knots.

Friday morning again produced a good number of fish with Andy getting another 30 and I landed my first 40 to 40 pounds and 3 oz

In short, we all had PB, our first 30 and 40 and the big cats just made this dream trip. Ian was an excellent host, I'll be back there at the first opportunity.

SOME OF SIMON

Without repeating Paul concisely Our first trip to France I would add a bit of my experience. WOW! We arrived around noon lan and came right to greet us and offer a cup of tea. The introductions are made directly to the lake for a tour. There were only three of us in the lake that week so we had the peak of the swimming, although Ian suggested a double and a single and went with your advice, good decision.

As Paul has already said, the action began for me and Andy in the first hour and never stopped throughout the journey.

Oddly there was little action on the night but was awakened each morning at 6:00 a.m. on a journey through by cries and landed a carp of 25 pounds or more. Not bored at night though, as Andy was at least two races.

Wednesday was the culmination for me, we had a little or a rain storm and I decided to use the time to bring my rods and have a quick shower and change clothes. The rain stopped and bars went out. About half an hour later, the buzzer screamed to life and I, we found a great fish. All we had about thirty now and I just I knew this was at the upper end thereof. About 15 minutes after he slipped the net under a fish and Andy and I knew that just landed the first forty and trip. Well, I clean and clean clothes Burton went to a tent 45 lbs 15 oz was weighed, photographed and slid backwards. I am sure that with a little drying sling weight could have got it to 46 pounds.

N forty more for me for the rest of the trip, but many fish over twenty years to thirty-high five years, the action just did not stop.

Would I like to go back?? I do not think it necessary to respond to that!
